An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.
In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Inspiring and real as we would expect from Michelle Obama, the incredibly transparent FOTUS, focused on change. Thank you for sharing your journey and family. Thank you for inspiring me to get involved and make a difference with under served young American girls and LGBTQ in Miami. #grateful

This book showed me a side of one of the most powerful, influential woman in the world that I haven’t seen before. Raw, real, and just... amazing. Would definitely recommend it!

I had wanted to read this book for a while and I’m glad I did. It was a little long in places but ahead a light on who she is, how she advanced and what it was like to be in the White House. You read that she was lawyer but I didn’t understand what she had to overcome to be that. Then after all that work to find it didn’t fit. It is nice to know that most of us are always changing and hopefully growing.

  • amazing book

i just have to say that this book was utterly one of the best reads ever. i was somewhat worried to read this because of the amount of pages and how i was expecting this to be a high-level read, but it wasn’t. this is a thoughtful, detail filled book. it’s easy to read even with all of the pages, so i would say it’s great for children. it also contains a lot of inspiration for everyone and a lot of knowledge which is why i think it’s a great book for a book club or a family. but if your someone who’s close-minded and doesn’t like books that don’t agree with your opinion then i don’t recommend this book. if your on the right side, i recommend this book, but if your planned to be offended then don’t. but an amazing book, and a great, inspirational woman.

I would not take my time to read a book written by a ghost writer for this evil woman

This book was great until she randomly inserted her biased and hypocritical political opinions into what could’ve been a great book. She claims to “aim high” when others “aim low” but used this book as a stab at our current president and sold it off as an inspirational book aimed towards millennials. It’s sad she used this book as a platform to portray herself in a better light.
